Why I have chosen this charity ?
Hi everyone, Over the past 15 years I have suffered from fibrocystic breast tissue, although this does not make me any more at risk than any other women, but makes it a little more difficult to find abnormalities, as I have lumps galore. Every year I make my way back to the Wesley Breast Clinic in Auchenflower, Brisbane for my regular mammogram and ultra sound hoping for the results we all want, except this time they found some calcification, which is common…Calcification can be a sign of early breast cancer in 1 in 5 women, so as you can imagine I was beside myself waiting for that call to come from my doctor.
Luckily, this biopsy came back benign and turns out it was just active breast tissue.
The ladies, including the doctors, nurses, radiologists and volunteers are the most amazing people and do everything in their power to comfort you throughout this entire procedure.
This was when I decided, once my product and website was launched, that this is where I would like to donate $1 per lantern that is sold to Wesley Medical Research to conduct breast cancer research.
